In 1899, the then Vicar of Newlyn East, Frederic James Bone requested that Walter Harvey Lancelot Shadwell transcribe the original parish records from 1559 to 1715.
Many of these early records are now missing and thus the work of Walter Shadwell is a very useful record for researching early records in the parish.
